Sustainable Rural water and sanitation Infrastructure for improved Health and Livelihood (SRSWIH) – Additional Financing

The Ministry of Water and Sanitation, with financing from the African Development Bank, has been implementing the Sustainable Rural Water Infrastructure for Improved Health and Livelihood (SRWSIHL). The project aimed at increasing the resilience of water supply systems through rehabilitation and expansion, and address sanitation and hygiene challenges. It was being implemented in five districts of Rumphi, Nkhotakota, Ntcheu, Mangochi and Phalombe, benefiting 516,000 families and created 6,760 jobs.

During the month under review, the project completed the relocation of solar panels support structures at Sombani scheme in Phalombe away from the overgrown tree line.

The project also reviewed and conditionally accepted the ‘‘Situation Analysis, Draft Community Climate Change Adaptation Plan” and “Draft Catchment Management Plans’’ at GFS Level during the period under review. Going forward, the project plans to conduct end-line survey and final project audit.
